Free sugar screening tomorrow at Medix Pharmacy

International World Diabetes day is commemorated on the 14th of November annually.

To create an awareness about this silent killer, Medix Pharmacy invites you and your loved ones

to a free screening session on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 09h00 to 13h00.

“Diabetes is a disease in which your blood glucose, or blood sugar, levels are too high. Glucose comes from the foods you eat. Insulin is a hormone that helps the glucose get into your cells to give them energy. With type 1 diabetes, your body does not make insulin. With type 2 diabetes, the more common type, your body does not make or use insulin well. Without enough insulin, the glucose stays in your blood. You can also have prediabetes. This means that your blood sugar is higher than normal but not high enough to be called diabetes. Having prediabetes puts you at a higher risk of getting type 2 diabetes. Over time, having too much glucose in your blood can cause serious problems. It can damage your eyes, kidneys, and nerves. Diabetes can also cause heart disease, stroke and even the need to remove a limb. Pregnant women can also get diabetes, called gestational diabetes.

Blood tests can show if you have diabetes. One type of test, the A1C, can also check on how you are managing your diabetes. Exercise, weight control and sticking to your meal plan can help control your diabetes. You should also monitor your blood glucose level and take medicine if prescribed.’

Common symptoms of diabetes:

· Urinating often.

· Feeling very thirsty.

· Feeling very hungry – even though you are eating.

· Extreme fatigue.

· Blurry vision.

· Cuts/bruises that are slow to heal.

· Weight loss – even though you are eating more (type 1)

· Tingling, pain, or numbness in the hands/feet (type 2)

If you experiencing any of the symptoms above, we suggest that you make your way to Medix pharmacy

to a free screening session hosted by trained medical personnel.

Great news for all our patients

Medix pharmacy has partnered with Tasly, global leaders in

Chinese medicine to provide our valued patients with the

opportunity of undergoing a quantum resonance magnetic

analyzation which basically assesses a patients overall

state of health. Staff members have underwent screening

themselves and were quite surprised at the accurate

results produced by the system.

Previously testing was only done on a specific day in a month,

But now patients can come in at any time to have the screening

done at their convenience.

Drug Testing at Medix Pharmacy

A urine drug test is a simple and painless procedure that identifies illegal drugs as well as prescription medication in a urine sample. At Medix pharmacy we use a multi panel drug test to screen for amphetamines, cocaine, dagga, heroin and methamphetamines.

A drug test is essential in the following situations:

• The police may require a suspect to be tested for drugs or alcohol in the event of an accident

• An employer may require a potential employee to carry out a drug test prior to being hired. Some jobs require full co-ordination, for example piloting or driving

• Sportsmen may be asked to carry out drug tests prior to performing in major tournaments

• Parents and teachers may want to carry out drug tests if they suspect a child is using an illegal drug substance based on the child’s overall behaviour

Feel free to contact the Medix team to have your drug test done by a medical professional.

All results will be certified by the nurse on duty!!
